I practice in a Toronto firm, and lived and worked in Japan, but maintain my working-class roots in a small Northern Ontario community.  I was the first member of my family to attend university and served in the Canadian Forces Reserves to pay my tuition.

I believe that we have an obligation to give back.  I volunteered for many years as a Pilot with the Canadian Forces' Air Cadet Gliding Program.  I am active with the OBA, the CBA and other organizations.  I am currently Vice-Chair of a National charity that raises money to support an Eye Hospital in the Middle East and funds a first aid program for Indigenous communities in Northern Canada.  I also volunteer with a charity that provides micro-loans to entrepreneurs from disadvantaged communities and manages a $1.5 million loan fund to permit immigrants to upgrade their credentials.

I have governance experience.  I have been involved with and advised multiple non-profit boards.  I served on the Board and the Finance Committee of a large charity with a $35+ million investment portfolio and $17+ million in revenue, and managed a statutory corporation with $50+ million in revenue and over 7,000 individual stakeholders.

I am an independent candidate.  I receive no financial support for my campaign from the firm in which I am a partner.   Thank you for visiting shea4bencher2019.com.

I have known Patrick as both my lawyer and a friend.  I’ve seen the hard work and dedication that he has to the various community projects in which he is engaged and I am aware of the struggles he faces in running for Bencher.  The sort of commitment, integrity and dedication Patrick has shown in all of the work he has done to date will no doubt serve him well as a Bencher.  As both an Ontarian and a consumer of legal services, I believe that Patrick has a real contribution to make to the Law Society of Ontario.
